How to Knit Diagonal Chevron Zig-Zag Stitch [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]
Diagonal Chevron Zig-Zag stitch is a really fun one to add to your stitch pattern library! Don’t be put off by the mouthful of a name (!) this stitch has a fairly simple 16 row repeat, that consists of just knit and purl stitches.
This stitch is one for the advanced beginner, one for those of you who have mastered knit and purl stitches and feel confident (or ready!) to tackle the 16 row repeat. If you are new to diagonal patterned stitches then maybe have a go at the Diagonal Rib Stitch first as it’ll get you used to the stitch pattern shifting across your work.
This pattern is reversible, so althought I’ve suggested a right side and wrong side in my written pattern, it will really depend on which way you want your chevrons to flow when you settle on which side you want to class as your “right” side. The reversible nature of the stitch pattern makes this great for projects that are likely to have both sides visible quite a lot of the time – scarves for instance.
