Reversible Knitted Blanket Patterns You’ll Love!

Knitting Baby Blankets is a real passion of mine. I’m a firm believer that you should knit what you love, and for me that’s baby blankets.

Personally I’m not precious about having a blanket that looks the same on both sides. As long as the blanket is neat and tidy on the back then I’m happy.

Not having a reversible pattern gives me much more creative freedom when coming up with a new stitch pattern for the front.

That being said, I know many many of you love to knit only reversible blankets. So I thought I’d do a little round up post of 6 of my fully reversible designs.

I have a few more reversible blankets up my sleeve coming later in 2025 so keep an eye out for those! But for now, here’s my current selection of reversible designs:

corner to corner (c2c) baby blanket

For me, Garter Stitch is the ultimate reversible knit stitch pattern. Not only is it easy, but it has great squishy texture and generally looks fabulous wherever its used.

This blanket is no exception – Garter Stitch is worked on the bias (diagonally) which gives the blanket a little twist over a blanket knitted in straight rows of Garter Stitch.

This corner to corner blanket is my ultimate easy knit. It’s just a one row repeat, and consists of only a knit stitch, a very basic increase stitch and a very simple decrease. This makes it perfect for any beginner to tackle, and when worked in variegated yarn this pattern just comes into its own.

“daisy” baby blanket

Daisy is another one of my ultimate easy knits. Just a one row repeat, and no edging stitches to worry about. The clean, sleek lines mean that just a one stitch selvedge is enough to give a beautiful neat and tidy blanket – however if you wanted to add a separate border then it wouldn’t be difficult to adjust the pattern to incorporate one.

This is one of the blankets I recommend if someone is a beginner and is looking for minimal purl stitches and no complicated repeats to remember.

fishermans rib baby blanket

This Fisherman’s Rib Blanket was one of the very first reversible designs I knitted. Using simple techniques, this blanket is just a two row repeat and produces the most amazing squishy texture when finished.

I coupled mine with a built in Garter Stitch edging, but you could change things up and use any edging that you wanted.

“sasha” Baby Blanket

Sasha is a timeless classic. Clean lines of Stockinette and reverse stockinette create a sleek striped blanket pattern that will look good in pretty much any yarn out there.

I’ve used a simple pale grey, but you could switch things up and use a bright colour, or even a variegated yarn if the more neutral tones of my sample blanket aren’t really your style.

“peekaboo” baby blanket

The “Peekaboo” baby blanket pattern is extremely similar to my Corner to Corner blanket pattern. The exception being that instead of having a solid border, the peekaboo blanket has little eyelet holes that separate the blanket from the main body of the blanket.

This blanket is just a one row repeat – making it perfect for beginners to tackle. Knitting it in variegated yarn really allows the diagonal orientation of the pattern to shine. That being said, this pattern also works well in a solid coloured yarn.

Lucas Baby Blanket

Lucas has a textured panel that looks virtually identical on both sides which makes it a really versatile knit. Strips of stockinette and reverse stockinette sandwiched in-between garter stitch give great texture, whilst still being a relatively simple knit for the less experienced knitters amongst you.

Even though Lucas is a 24 row repeat, it is far from a complex pattern and as you’re working with a short pattern repeat from 6 stitches it really isn’t difficult to get to grips with the pattern repeat. So I definitely wouldn’t let the longer repeat put you off giving this blanket a go.
