How to Knit the "Sasha" Baby Blanket  [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

As baby blankets go, Sasha is an absolute classic. Simple blocks of stockinette and reverse stockinette create sleek, modern stripes. This combination also results in a reversible pattern - something I know a lot of knitters look for when making baby blankets.

For this particular blanket I've gone for a soft, gender neutral pale grey. But I think it would work in any colour you wanted to use - even using a variegated yarn would work really well.

Although the pattern repeat is 20 rows long, its probably one of the simplest designs you could knit without opting for something like Garter Stitch or a plain stockinette stitch. I've listed each individual row in my pattern instructions, and there is a YouTube Video Tutorial for you to follow along to if you prefer to have something visual to work along with rather than a traditional written pattern.

yarn and sizing tips & tricks

I've chosen DK (aka Double Knitting, Light Worsted, 3 Weight) yarn for this project, but don't let that stop you from knitting it in your own preferred weight of yarn. You will just need to adjust your cast on and number of repeats you work to accommodate the change in weight of yarn.

My instructions produce a Blanket approximately 60cm x 80cm, and the beauty of this pattern is there is NO set repeat. Just cast on as many or few stitches as you want, and start knitting. I've allowed 18 stitches for my garter stitch edging (9 for each side).

Materials Needed

• 4mm Circular Needs (to recreate this blanket 120cm is a perfect length)
• 400g of DK Yarn - I used Stylecraft Bambino in the shade Grey Mist
• Scissors & Tapestry Needle for sewing in ends
• 2 Stitch Markers
