How to Knit Moss Stitch
Learn how to knit Moss Stitch with me.
Moss Stitch is a fabulously simple pattern to get to grips with. With it’s short pattern multiple of just two stitches, its the perfect stitch to tackle as an adventurous beginner.
Moss stitch is from the same family of stitches as Seed Stitch, moss stitch is completely reversible and follows an easy four row pattern repeat.

Stitches Used
- k – knit
- p – purl
Written Pattern
Foundation Row: Cast on an ODD number of stitches.
Row 1: *k1, p1* Repeat from *to* until one stitch remains, k1
Row 2: *p1, k1* Repeat from *to* until one stitch remains, p1
Row 3: Repeat Row 2
Row 4: Repeat Row 1
Rest of Project: Repeat rows 1-4 until project is desired size.
Final Row: Cast off on a Row 4, in same k1, p1 repeat.
