How to Crochet the Cluster V Stitch
The Cluster V Stitch is fast becoming one of my favourite crochet stitches. Not only is it quick to work up for Baby Blankets, but it gives an absolutely fantastic texture and that makes it an all round winner in my books. You can find a link to the video tutorial at the bottom of this post.
Materials Needed:
- Crochet Hook in correct size for yarn weight
- Crochet hook TWO sizes bigger for starting chain.
- Embroidery Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
Stiches Used:
- ch – Chain
- dc – Double Crochet
- dc2tog – Double Crochet 2 Together (Double Crochet Decrease)
Pattern:
Foundation Row: With larger hook, work in multiples of 3 until you reach desired width (for baby blankets I chain 108)
Row 1: Switch to smaller hook. Into 6th chain from hook work *dc2tog, ch2, dc2tog, skip next 2 chains* Repeat from *to* until 1 chain remains. work dc into final chain. If changing colour break yarn and sew in ends, otherwise move straight to Row 2. Turn.
Row 2 (Repeat Row): Join new yarn. ch3, into ch2 space from row below work *dc2tog, ch2, dc2tog*. Repeat from *to* until end of row, working ONLY into the chain spaces from row below. Work dc into ch3 turn from row below. If changing colour break yarn and sew in ends. Turn
Rest of Pattern: Repeat Row 2 until project is desired size
