How to Knit the “Daisy” Baby Blanket [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]
***You can purchase an INEXPENSIVE AD-FREE PDF of this pattern on Ravelry HERE or Etsy HERE***
Daisy is a perfect example of a project not needing to be complicated to be interesting and modern. Using a simple simple one row repeat, Daisy is a beautifully soft garter stitch blanket, with little columns of purl stitches adding a tiny bit of texture just to make her stand out from the crowd.

She is fully reversible, which means she looks the same on her reverse and right side, I know lots of you out there love your blankets to have no right and wrong side, so hopefully Daisy satisfies that urge ๐
She will work in any colour, or any weight yarn – let your imagination go wild and stash bust to your hearts content. I’ve knitted my sample in a soft heather colour, but I think Daisy would also work well in a bold bright shade, a variegated yarn, or even using blocks of colour to create horizontal stripes. She’s a great all rounder of a pattern!

yarn and sizing tips & tricks
The Daisy baby blanket pattern is knitted all in one piece, from bottom to top. In order to accommodate all your stitches, I recommend using a set of circular needles (at least 100cm long) as straight needles just won’t be long enough to fit your stitches on comfortably.
I’ve chosen DK (aka Double Knitting, Light Worsted, 3 Weight) yarn for this project, but don’t let that stop you from knitting it in your own preferred weight of yarn.
My instructions produce a baby blanket approximately 60cm x 80cm, perfect for using as a cot, pram or travel blanket. But don’t let that stop you from knitting this blanket in any size you want! I think it would look great scaled up as a Sofa Throw, Quilt or Bedspread!
I’ve deliberately designed this knitting pattern to be super easy for you to adjust the size of your blanket to whatever size you want/need.
To make the blanket longer, you’ll simply need to work more rows. As the Daisy baby blanket pattern is only a one row repeat, it’s incredibly easy to adjust the size!
To adjust the width of your blanket you’ll need to cast on more (or indeed less) stitches, it can easily be done using the pattern multiple of 6+1.

Materials Needed:
- 4mm Circular Needles (to recreate this blanket 80-120cm is a perfect length)
- 400g of DK Yarn – I used Stylecraft Bambino in Heather
- Scissors & Tapestry Needle for sewing in ends
Written Pattern:
Stitches Used
- k – knit
- p – purl
- sl1pwyf – slip one purlwise with yarn in front.
Pattern Repeat
Foundation Row:ย Using the Long-Tail cast on, Cast on 133 stitches.
Row 1 (Repeat Row): k6, *p1, k5* Repeat *to* until 1 stitch remains, sl1pwyf
Repeat until project is desired length and cast off in pattern.
TOP TIP: It doesn’t matter which side you cast off on, but if you want a matching top and bottom edge, cast off on a row when the yarn tail from your cast on is at the bottom left hand corner of your blanket (assuming you used the Long Tail cast on)
I hope you love Daisy just as much as I do! If you’re looking for more knitted baby blanket inspiration then why not take a look at Harvey, Taylor or Noah.

You say to that the pattern consist of multiples of 6 +1, however I canโt get the math to work out for your cast on of 131 sts. for the blanket. (6×21=126+1=127) or 6×22=132+1=133). So, should I CO 133 sts for the pattern to work?
Hi Debbie – you are absolutely correct. I’ve made an error with the cast on amount. I’m so sorry! I will correct the pattern now. The multiple is correct, just the cast on was wrong. Laurelin ๐
Hi are any of the patterns available that are knitted on 2 needles please never knitted on circular ones thanks
Hi,
I only knit on circular needs as they offer flexibility and are less heavy on my hands. To knit these blankets you knit back and fourth as if you would on straight needles, but just using circular needles instead.
Hi there โSBโ! Iโm starting a king size heirloom blanket for my son on 1/1/2025. It will have 500 stitches per row and Iโm using Premiere Yarn. Certainly not in any rush to complete but thought this pattern would break up hours of monotonous garter stitch. Would you be able to help me calculate how much yarn I might need to add to what Iโve already purchased? What additional info would you need to help me? I would be most grateful for your help! Thank you and Merry Christmas! ๐
